The Polymer Microneedle Laboratory was established in 2014 by Professor Guo Xindong and currently comprises a team of 16 members. Primary research directions include: the investigation, development, and application of novel polymer microneedles; molecular design, synthesis, and application of biomedicinal polymer materials; and multiscale computational simulations exploring structure-property relationships in polymers across different scales.

The laboratory is dedicated to pursuing the most cutting-edge and challenging research at the intersection of chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, nanotechnology, and materials science. By integrating theories and methodologies from multiple fundamental disciplines, it designs and develops novel functional biomaterials and devices, providing new principles, technologies, and products for the design and development of structured products in the biomedical field. The laboratory has undertaken projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, key projects of the Beijing Laboratory for Biomedical Materials, and the Beijing University of Chemical Technology Discipline Enhancement Program. Significant breakthroughs have been achieved in the design and development of polymer microneedles, advancing their industrialization. Guided by the university motto “Transforming Nature, Cultivating Virtue,” the laboratory pursues practical innovation and mutual support. It continuously explores and strives for excellence in interdisciplinary fields including biomedical materials, micro/nano technology, and chemical engineering.
